The Hague, Netherlands, March 22, 2024 (ots/PRNewswire) – Tuya Smart (NYSE: TUYA, HKEX: 2391), a global provider of IoT development services, shared insights from the first at a cyber standards forum co-hosted by the Research Center for Global Cyberspace Governance (RCGCG) and Leiden University’s Cybersecurity Governance Hand to advance discussions on cybersecurity regulation in Europe.
The forum brought together cybersecurity and international relations experts from institutions, organizations and companies to deepen the discussion on cybersecurity regulation in Europe from a global perspective. Experts and specialists from the European Institute for Security Studies, the Institute for Security and Global Affairs at Leiden University, DigiChina, the University of Bonn, TÜV SÜD and Tuya Smart, as well as guests representing EU programs such as the EU Cyber Direct – EU Cyber Diplomacy Initiative project and representing the Hague Program for International Cybersecurity, discussed recent progress in building cyber norms in Europe and the regulatory landscape of EU cybersecurity legislation.
The symposium addressed the EU-China cyber norms and focused on implementing the 11 norms established by the OEWG into a global cyberspace governance practice, exploring next steps for further implementation and charting the future course .

The rapid proliferation of IoT technologies with different IoT products and different security standards poses an obstacle to establishing a solid security foundation. Companies face challenges arising from strict regulations, technological complexity and geopolitical tensions.

At the forum, Tuya Smart explained his holistic approach to cybersecurity leadership. The company was recognized as an exemplary cybersecurity practice in the 2022 Global IoT Security White Paper, co-authored by RCGCG and ioXt, the global standard for IoT security.
Tuya’s efforts have been on full display, with actions ranging from obtaining international third-party security certifications to the creation of the Tuya Security Team. The company has also established six data centers worldwide to ensure fast and reliable service to its global customer base.
At a time when privacy and transparency demands are increasing, Tuya’s focus on compliance and security becomes increasingly important.
At a global level, Tuya has demonstrated its cybersecurity and data protection capabilities through the Ernst & Young SOC 2 audit program. It has met regional standards by receiving TrustArc validation for GDPR and CCPA compliance. In terms of product safety, Tuya has received EN 303645 and NIST IR 8259A certifications from TÜV SÜD, demonstrating its commitment to safe products.
The forum also highlighted Tuya’s global partnership with TÜV SÜD, which features training, audits, testing and certification, as well as its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to initiate a “Collaborative Security Lab” focused on the Providing industry-wide solutions focused on strengthening security, compliance capabilities and technological innovation in the IoT sector.
Discussions at the forum also covered recent advances in European legislation, with the EU Cybersecurity Act and the European Cyber Resilience Act being discussed.
