The Minister of Public Health of the province, Luis Medina Ruiz He chaired a new Situation Room. In this regard, the official explained: “We analyzed the epidemic situation in the world, in the continental region in which we are, in Argentina and Tucumán. Here in our province the number of ETI cases (influenza-like illnesses) continues to decrease. If we consider the time of year in which we are, we could say that it is normal in terms of the number of cases. With respect to bronchiolitis, it continues to decrease; last week we had 328 cases of this disease that affects children under 2 years of age. In this sense, it is very important to highlight that there is a vaccine against the respiratory syncytial virus, which is the most frequent germ in children that affects the respiratory system. It must be remembered that the vaccine is available for pregnant women between 32 and 36 weeks and 6 days. This is very important to keep in mind because when the pregnant woman receives this vaccine, she transmits the antibodies so that the newborn is protected. On the other hand, with regard to COVID, there are also very few cases, all mild, with no mortality since November 20th of last year, and with regard to other diseases we are stable.”

For her part, the secretary of epidemiology, Rita Ivanovich He indicated that “we have been looking at data at a national level, such as dengue, for example, it has been 18 weeks of decline in the curve, but well, we have to consider that there are certain provinces that have reported the persistence of viral circulation. This is the case of Formosa and Chaco, therefore, in relation to our province, we have not detected any positive cases for 7 weeks now, but logically we continue with surveillance and it is essential to take into account, above all, people who come from the NEA region, especially these jurisdictions that we mentioned before. In relation to respiratory diseases, at a national level, what can be seen is that both bronchiolitis and influenza-type illnesses present a notification within what is expected for the time of year and in the province of Tucumán we can observe the same situation, in any case we have to consider that both the respiratory syncytial virus, which is the one that causes bronchiolitis, and the influenza virus continue to circulate, therefore it is important to continue with preventive measures”.
