Trump won this victory by defeating the former governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley. Although South Carolina is Nicky’s home state and he has been elected mayor twice.
Voting ends at 7pm local time on Saturday. Nikki Haley received only 17 votes, while Donald Trump received 107 votes.
After the vote, Trump addressed supporters in Colombia for about 30 minutes. At that time, he said, he had never seen the unity of the Republican Party as it is now.
Trump’s name has been involved in several controversies recently. Still, he is moving forward in the presidential race.
He strengthened his position in the race for the Republican Party nomination by winning South Carolina. On the other hand, the pressure will increase on Nikki Haley to withdraw from this competition.
But former UN ambassador Nicky Super has announced that the fight will continue until Tuesday. Super Tuesday, March 5, will hold primary elections in 15 states and one territory.
The US presidential election will be held in November this year. Trump is ahead of the Republican Party in the election race. The current president will fight from the Democrat Party Joe Biden.
