Trump says hate has no place in the United States – Angola News

President Donald Trump assured that “hate” has no place in the United States, one day after two shootings that left 29 dead and which he attributed to a “mental illness problem”.

“This needs to end. It has been going on for too many years”, said the head of the White House in statements in the state of New Jersey, where he spent the weekend at his golf club, accompanied by his wife.

“We have already done a lot, but perhaps we can do even more,” he said in brief statements.

Trump avoided answering questions about the alleged anti-immigrant manifesto published by the suspect in the El Paso, Texas, massacre.

However, he noted that he had contacted the governors of Texas and Ohio, as well as Attorney General William Barr and members of Congress, to analyze the measures that could be applied to curb gun violence in the country.

Saturday’s shooting at a shopping center in El Paso, Texas, left at least 20 dead and 26 injured.

US authorities have already defined the attack carried out by 21-year-old Patrick Crusius as a “hate crime” and the El Paso prosecutor said the death penalty will be sought.

In the early hours of Sunday, in a second shooting in the city of Dayton, Ohio, 24-year-old Connor Betts killed nine people, including his sister, and injured dozens of others before being shot down by police.
