Truce talks between Israel and Hamas reactivated

So far, no previous round of negotiations has managed to reach an agreement that includes a ceasefire.

The possibility of achieving a truce in Gaza and the release of the hostages gained strength this Monday with the meeting in Cairo of a Hamas delegation with the mediators, after almost seven months of conflict between the Palestinian movement and Israel.

The Secretary of the United States, Antony Blinkenexpressed his optimism from Saudi Arabia regarding the Palestinian Islamist movement being able to accept the Israeli proposal, which he described as “very generous«.

Hamas representatives held meetings in Cairo with delegates from Egypt and Qatar, both countries acting as mediators together with the United States, to respond to the truce proposal negotiated between Israel and Egypt.

“The delegates of the Palestinian movement have left Egypt and are in Qatar at the moment.”to discuss the ideas and the proposal (…) we are willing to respond as soon as possible” according to a Hamas source who preferred to remain anonymous when speaking to the media.

According to reports from «egyptian fonts» mentioned by Al-Qahera News on Monday night, a portal linked to the Egyptian intelligence services, the Hamas delegation has left Cairo and expected to return with a written response to the truce proposal.
