Jack Grealish (28), teammate of De Bruyne and Doku at Manchester City, is still reeling from the burglary at his home last week. On Wednesday evening, while he was in the field, his loved ones had to hide when thieves broke into the villa. Jewelery worth over one million euros was stolen. “This is a traumatic experience.”
Jack Grealish and girlfriend Sasha Attwood moved into a mansion in Cheshire just before Christmas. In the country house of 24 hectares and more than six million euros, Sasha had invited the family on Wednesday evening to watch Manchester City’s match against Everton on TV. Grealish remained on the pitch for ninety minutes.
The group – including Grealish’s parents, grandmother, two sisters and brother – watched the match on the ground floor, according to ‘The Sun’. Until suddenly they heard strange noises upstairs and the dogs started barking. A gang of thieves had climbed over the fence – which Grealish had installed soon after the move -, bypassed the extensive security system and entered the house. Sasha and his companions ran into a room and locked themselves there. The police were alerted via an emergency button. That didn’t stop the thieves from looting. They reportedly stole watches and jewelery worth more than one million euros. Security forces urged neighbors to stay indoors and used a helicopter to search for the perpetrators, without success.

Grealish, a teammate of Kevin De Bruyne and Jérémy Doku at City, was informed immediately after the final whistle and rushed to the dressing room and then home.
“On Wednesday 27 December, at approximately 9.50pm, police were called to a report of a burglary,” Cheshire Police wrote in a statement. “Things were closed. Officers supported by police dogs and the National Police Air Service were deployed. The area was searched. But there is no trace of the suspects. No arrests have been made yet, investigations are currently ongoing.”

“The whole family was downstairs cheering for Jack,” a source told the Sun. “Thankfully no-one was hurt, but there was panic. Everyone was terrified because they were so vulnerable. It was the family’s first time visiting their new home. When they heard dogs barking and people crawling, the panic alarm went off. The emergency unit intervened immediately, several police cars were sent and subsequently a helicopter. Because initially the police thought it might be a hostage situation.”
According to ‘The Sun’, the police are investigating whether the perpetrators had previously been in the house. The thieves knew exactly where the safe and the chute with the jewels were located. It is being investigated whether there is a connection to employees of a renovation company who worked on the house in recent weeks.
Grealish: “Traumatic experience”
Grealish was the first to respond to the theft yesterday. 2023 ended on a bad note for him and his family. “I can’t express how upset this makes me,” Grealish wrote on Instagram. “My family means a lot to me and nothing is more important than their safety. This is a traumatic experience for all of us. I’m so grateful that no one was hurt. To be honest, I don’t feel like I can celebrate the best year of my football life right now. The people who commit these crimes have no idea what they are doing to people. We hope they are found and brought to justice so that no other family has to go through this.”
