Translators Conference and Translation Literary Awards held – 2024-02-11 09:01:48

Translation conference and translation literature awards were held for Bengali literature translation writers. The event was organized by the Panjeri-Bangla Translation Foundation at Chitrashala Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Saturday (February 10).

At the beginning of the event, the conference was inaugurated by Khalil Ahmed, secretary of the Ministry of Culture. After that, there was an exchange meeting and the unveiling of the ‘Yuktambar’ magazine.

BTF President Professor Khalikuzzaman Elias presided over the meeting. was present as an honored guest

Director General of Bangla Academy Muhammad Nurul Huda, DMP Commissioner writer and researcher Habibur Rahman. The special guest was Royal Member of BTF Ekushey Medalist Dr. Noorun Nabi, Lutfar Rahman Riton, Chinu Mridha, Bonnie Chao, representative of America Literary Translation Association and others.

The discussants said in the exchange meeting that currently, translators and writers have increased from foreign language literature. As information and technology are easy, many people are interested in translation. However, it should be noted that it is possible to maintain the standard.

They say, one translator is two people. Know about the culture of the two countries. Think like two different nations. So in becoming a translator one must have goals, objectives and love for translation. Attention should also be paid to writing. Use appropriate words.

At the end of the ceremony three translators and writers were awarded. They are Professor Abdus Salim, Professor Abhijit Mukherjee, fiction writer Moshiul Alam and Marzia Rahman.
