Trailer for documentary about firefighters fighting fires in Valparaíso released – 2024-08-15 11:31:30 – 2024-08-15 11:34:35

After a successful run at international festivals, Miradoc premieres in Chile “Pirópolis,” a documentary directed by Nicolás Molina and produced by Joséphine Schroeder and Francisca Barraza.

The film is about “Pompe France,” a fire company in Valparaíso—with diplomatic ties to France—that must receive Baptista, a French firefighter who comes to instruct about fires in eucalyptus monocultures, which surround and threaten the city of Valparaíso.

As a social crisis erupts, the team must face the fire of protests and incorporate women into a group historically made up of men.

After its screening at world-renowned festivals such as Sheffield DocFest and Tribeca, “Piropolis” was described by specialized critics as “fascinating” (Peter Martin, Screen Anarchy), “bold, surprising and instructive” (J. Paul Johnson, Film Obsessive) and “a beautifully filmed first-person story about the human need to adapt” (Katie Carter, Katie at the Movies), emphasizing the way it reflects the transmutation of a society, through iconic characters, in a country divided by the flames of discontent.
