At least six people died and 26 others were injured this Friday afternoon (1/12), in an accident involving a bus and a car. The tragedy occurred on BR-116, near the cities of Campanário and Pescador, in the Vale do Rio Doce region of Minas Gerais. The accident site is located approximately 70 kilometers from Teófilo Otoni, in the Mucuri Valley.
According to the fire department (CBMMG), the company was called around 4.30pm. So far there is no information on the identity of the victims. The bus had left Novo Cruzeiro, headed for Piracicaba, and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Veraneio. Upon impact, the bus fell into the Itambacuri river.
In a video shared on social media, you can see that a smaller vehicle was completely destroyed. The incident is still ongoing.
