MIAMI – Traffic delays were experienced in the southern region from the early hours of this morning.
A fatal collision involving four vehicles on the Palmetto Highway (826) near the I-75 exit caused significant disruptions on this major South Florida highway today.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the incident took place around 5:10 a.m. on State Highway 826 in the southbound lanes, specifically in Miami-Dade County.
The vehicles involved in the accident were a gray Honda, a silver Nissan, a silver Volkswagen, and a white Ford. All four vehicles were heading south on 826 in the center lane when traffic suddenly came to a halt.
According to FHP, the driver of the Honda failed to stop in time and collided with the Nissan, triggering a chain reaction of collisions with the other vehicles.
The southbound lanes of the Palmetto Freeway remained closed until approximately 10:15 a.m., with traffic being redirected onto NW 154th Street.
Tragically, the driver of the Nissan, identified as an adult Hispanic male, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, as confirmed by FHP.
