The Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, stated that for the Easter holiday period they expect to receive around 126,000 international visitors to Salvadoran territory.
The number of international visitors will represent 15% more than those received during last year’s holidays, when 102,055 arrived.
The arrival of foreigners during Easter this year will leave the country with an economic spill of $110 million in foreign currency, exceeding the $95 million received in 2023.
The official estimated that the majority of these visitors will come from the United States and Central America, specifically Guatemala and Honduras.
Likewise, he reiterated that tourism is one of the sectors that most drives the economy, which would not be possible without the coordinated work of all Government institutions.
“All this articulated work that we are having would not be possible if it were not for the collaboration of all our teams. We are working not only so that they come to visit us, but also so that they come to invest,” said the minister during the launch of the Summer 2024 Plan.
He also highlighted that El Salvador continues to be an important destination for tourism and that currently people who wish to reside and are exploring investing in the country are also received.
On the other hand, in line with the data provided by the Ministry of Tourism, the president of the Autonomous Port Executive Commission (CEPA), Federico Anliker, stated that for Easter they plan to serve more than 240,000 passengers at the El Salvador International Airport, with a daily average of 16,000 travelers. This movement represents an increase of 30% compared to last year
