Four of the five candidates competing for mayor of Torreón committed to making their municipalities national pilots for observation, evaluation and monitoring of electoral proposals, something that has never happened in Mexico.
Román Alberto Cepeda González, from PRI-PRD-UDC; Shamir Fernández Hernández, from Morena-PT; Sergio Lara Galván, from the PAN; and José Ignacio Corona Rodríguez, from PVEM, are part of the 32 candidates who accepted the commitment put on the table by the National Agreement for Electoral Integrity and the International Foundation for the Development of Trustworthy Governments in collaboration with the National Electoral Institute (INE). ) and signed this May 28, together with candidates for deputations and the senate of all the parties corresponding to those municipalities, the commitments on the national electoral integrity agreement.
During the ceremony, the “National Agreement for Electoral Integrity 2023-2034” was signed and the articulation of a citizen monitoring network that will monitor compliance with the commitments assumed through the electoral proposals.
The signatory candidates have committed, if elected, to create the conditions so that This national commitment to observation, evaluation and monitoring of proposals is fulfilled in its management. There is a commitment among all to ensure respect for the principles of integrity that must govern the development of the electoral process, as well as in the respective efforts of each participant, in order to strengthen the democratic exercise.
