The Moldovan Winter Sports Association is interested in the structure, financing and training opportunities of Austrian sport.
Wien/Chisinau (OTS) – Dmitrі Torner (Link: Torner Initiative), President of the Moldovan Winter Sports and Biathlon Association, wants to increase the success of Moldovan athletes. Torner relies on Austrian experience. “In the last two years we have already achieved a respectable result at the European Championships. With one gold and two silver medals we came fourth behind Norway, France and Sweden,” says Torner, pleased about the athletes’ achievements. With Moldova now a candidate for EU membership, Torner wants to strengthen ties with Europe. “As a neutral country with great athletes, Austria is the right partner for us when it comes to the further development of sport in Moldova,” says Torner. His discussions with relevant Austrian sports organizations will cover topics such as organizational structure, the development of sports infrastructure, financing, interaction with government agencies, management of sports facilities, integration of young people and the professional security of current and dealing with former top athletes.
