JAKARTA – The Legislative Body (Baleg) of the DPR has scheduled a meeting to discuss the Revision of the Regional Election Law with the government and DPD on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. The meeting will start at around 10.00 WIB in the Baleg Meeting Room, Nusantara I, Floor 1, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.

Baleg Working Meeting with the Government and DPD RI in the context of Discussion of the Bill on the Fourth Amendment to Law Number 1 of 2015 concerning the Stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2014 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents, and Mayors into Law (Pilkada Bill).

At 13.00 WIB, the Working Committee Meeting related to the discussion of the Pilkada Bill. Furthermore, at 19.00 WIB, a Working Meeting with the Government and the DPD RI in order to make decisions on the results of the Pilkada Bill Discussion.

This was confirmed by Members of the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the DPR Christina Aryani and Firman Soebagyo. “Yes,” said Christina when confirmed by SINDOnews, Tuesday (20/8/2024) evening.

Then, when asked whether one of the things that will be discussed at the DPR Baleg meeting tomorrow is the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling today, one of which is changing the threshold for regional head candidacy requirements, this Golkar politician admitted that he had not received the draft. “I haven’t received the draft. It will be tomorrow,” he said.

Firman Soebagyo also confirmed that the Baleg meeting tomorrow will start at around 10:00 WIB. Firman claimed that there is no plan for the DPR Baleg to annul the Constitutional Court’s decision regarding the requirements for nominating regional heads with the Perppu. “How is that possible? The Constitutional Court’s decision is final and binding, how could the DPR violate those rules?” he said.
