Tokayev received the Minister of Defense

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Defense Minister Ruslan Zhaksylykov, Liter.kz reports with reference to Chord.

The head of the defense department reported:

• on operational and combat training of army units;
• major efforts aimed at training management bodies and personnel;
• on equipping the Armed Forces with modern equipment and weapons, developing territorial defense troops, and improving military infrastructure;
• on the events planned for 2024 within the framework of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the SCO and CSTO, as well as on the conduct of large-scale exercises, including at the international level;
• about the work of the department on military-patriotic education, spring conscription for compulsory military service, measures to improve the social status of military personnel and the prestige of military service.

The President noted the importance of the activities of the Kazakh peacekeeping contingent in the Golan Heights under the auspices of the UN, the press service of the head of state said.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set a number of tasks for the minister aimed at further increasing the combat potential of the Armed Forces.

Let us recall that on January 19, deputies of the Senate and Mazhilis at a joint meeting approved the sending of 430 peacekeepers from Kazakhstan to participate in UN missions. There are four of them in total.
