Tokayev and Japarov opened a monument to Manas in Astana

The heads of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan solemnly opened a monument to the warrior Aikol Manas in Astana, Liter.kz reports.

In his speech, the head of state noted that the construction of such a majestic monument in the capital testifies to the deep respect of the Kazakh people for fraternal Kyrgyzstan.

As you know, two years ago a monument to the great Abai was unveiled in Bishkek. I specially attended its opening ceremony. Such good initiatives will undoubtedly help strengthen friendly ties between our countries,” said the President of Kazakhstan.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the epic “Manas”, which has a thousand-year history and occupies a special place in the spiritual life of all humanity, is a unique heritage and priceless treasury not only of Kyrgyzstan, but also of the entire Turkic people.

Kazakh scientists have made a huge contribution to the preservation of this famous epic, which has stood the test of time and has survived to this day. Among them are such outstanding personalities as Shokan Ualikhanov, Mukhtar Auezov and Alkey Margulan,” said the leader of Kazakhstan.

Noting the common cultural heritage of the two countries, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev drew attention to the fact that famous figures of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have always sincerely supported each other. The head of state, on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan, expressed deep gratitude to the people of Kyrgyzstan for the assistance provided to our country in the fight against floods.

This architectural work, erected in our capital, reflects the common roots of the Turkic peoples. This is a monument not only to Manas, but also to the eternal brotherhood of Kazakhs and Kyrgyz. I am confident that the friendship between our countries will be unbreakable,” the leader of Kazakhstan concluded.

Of course, the contribution of outstanding personalities of the Kazakh people to the study of the unique epic work “Manas” can hardly be overestimated. The famous Kazakh scientist Shokan Ualikhanov was the first to make a scientific recording of the epic. The first monograph about Manas by the great writer Mukhtar Auezov became widely known. Today is a historic day for Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. The opening of the monument to Aikol Manas on Kazakh soil once again confirms the brotherhood of the two countries, said the President of Kyrgyzstan.

Sadyr Japarov, on behalf of the entire Kyrgyz people, expressed gratitude to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the citizens who contributed to the opening of the monument to Manas.
