BRASILIA. The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), will participate this Monday (1/8) in the event marking the first anniversary of the Brasilia coups. The head of the Executive of Minas Gerais will be present at the National Congress, together with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
The event to celebrate the first year of the anti-democratic attacks of January 8, 2023 will be held today in the Black Hall of the National Congress. Around 500 guests are expected to attend the event, including government ministers, ministers of the Federal Court (STF), parliamentarians, governors and other authorities.
The ceremony was originally supposed to be called Democracy Restored, but the name sparked dissatisfaction among members of Congress. Lula then renamed the act Unshakeable Democracy, a slogan the STF had used in an institutional campaign in 2023.
An exhibition commemorating the January 8 attacks will also be inaugurated at the STF.
