Monir Hossain, the creator of the hugely popular TV series ‘Aaj Nidhindi’ written by Humayun Ahmed, is no longer alive.
The producer breathed his last at the National Institute of Neurosciences Hospital located in Agargaon of the capital on Wednesday (June 26) at 12:53 pm.
Director’s Guild Bangladesh General Secretary SM Kamruzzaman Sagar confirmed this. The leader who was elected as the vice-president of the organization was the builder Jeevan.
Sagar said that Monir Hossain Jiban suffered a brain stroke. He was later admitted to Neurosciences Hospital. The producer died there while undergoing treatment.
Life’s body will be kept at Shilpakala Academy premises today Thursday (June 27) at 10 am for paying respects. After paying respects, the first funeral of the deceased was held at Shilpakala Academy premises at 11 am. After the funeral, the body of the deceased is supposed to be taken to Manohardi in Narsingdi’s ancestral home. The builder will be buried in the family graveyard after the second Janaza after Baad Asr.
TV related organizations and individuals have expressed deep grief and condolences to his family for his untimely demise.
In 1999, BTV aired the serial drama ‘Aaj Nidhini’. It stars Abul Khair, Abul Hayat, Zahid Hasan, Afroz, Sheila Ahmed, Farooq Ahmed, Asaduzzaman Noor and Suborna Mustafa. It was one of the most popular TV serials of Bangladesh in the 90s. It was rebroadcast in Hindi on Indian television channel Star Plus in October 2016.
Monir Hossain Jiban made his debut as a full-fledged director with the drama ‘Aaj Nidhindi’ with the hundred percent support of Humayun Ahmed. After that he produced many plays.
Since 2000, Monir Hossain Jeevan formed his own production company ‘Swadan Film’. He produced numerous one-act plays from this production company. Among them, ‘White Paper’, ‘Water in Flood’s Eyes’, ‘Unexpected Expectations’, ‘Then Loneliness’, ‘A Dead Man’, ‘Gunman’, ‘Marriage Crisis’, ‘Qorban Ali’s Sacrifice’ are notable.
