The presidential campaigns ended in Mexico this Wednesday with massive events for the three presidential candidates, Claudia Sheinbaum, Xóchitl Gálvez and Jorge Álvarez Máynez.
In almost three months of the campaign, which started on March 1, the three candidates toured the country, in regions plagued by violence, to publicize their proposals and political programs and add preferences.
Starting Thursday, there will be a three-day electoral ban, a space for citizens to think about their vote, before the elections.
The final test will occur next Sunday when voters decide who will succeed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
On the last day of the campaign, Sheinbaum packed the Zócalo in Mexico City. Also in the capital, Álvarez Máynez closed with a concert for young people and Gálvez organized an event in Monterrey, the second most populated city in the country.
It should be noted that President AndrésManuel LópezObrador will not hold his morning conferences due to the electoral ban period.
This was celebrated by the National Electoral Institute, where its president advisor, Guadalupe Taddei, said that “it is part that contributes to the issue of the electoral ban. It seems correct to me that this is the case.”
The closing of the campaigns was marred at the local level by insecurity in different parts of the country, where the candidate for mayor of Coyuca de Benítez, in Guerrero, was murdered.
