The president of the Senate, Juan Antonio Coloma, participated in the meeting; the president of the Supreme Court, Ricardo Blanco; the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Cifuentes; the Comptroller General of the Republic (s), Dorothy Pérez; the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Carolina Tohá; the Minister of National Defense, Maya Fernández; the Commanders in Chief of the Army, Air Force and Navy, Javier Iturriaga, Hugo Rodríguez and Juan Andrés De La Maza; the General Director of Carabineros, Ricardo Yáñez; the General Director of the PDI, Sergio Muñoz; the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve; and the Undersecretary of Defense, Ricardo Montero.

After the meeting, President Gabriel Boric addressed the tone of what was discussed. “I have asked the Council for its expert opinion on the best way to implement the constitutional reform for the protection of our country’s critical infrastructure, which was approved a year ago. And just as they have been guarding our borders, particularly the northern border, for almost a year, with this law the Armed Forces will be able, in exceptional circumstances, to protect those facilities that provide essential services to our society, as well as the perimeters. around these and the protection of the people who circulate through them daily,” he explained.

And he added that “they have shared opinions and proposals with me regarding this specific matter. And these opinions are very important to be able to provide our Government with the necessary and precise information to be able to carry out the best actions that can meet the objectives that all Chileans share, which is to provide greater security to our citizens. In addition, we have established very specific tasks that are not relevant to detail. “To close gaps in security and quickly make a proposal to the various institutions present that will improve coordination in the fight against crime.”

Furthermore, the president stressed that “from the State, all its institutions have a single vision and we are a single body to energetically and decisively confront delinquency and organized crime. “We are not going to allow organized crime to become normalized, established or consolidated in our country.”

And he added that “we have taken a step forward, because from a Government strategy, we will move to a State strategy with all the institutions and society involved. Without any type of complex, I will occupy all the instances empowered by the Constitution and the laws to face this tremendous challenge that is a priority for you, Chileans.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá, said that the minutes of the meeting will be published with the interventions and contributions of all those present.
