TJ Doheny Suffers Back Injury From Beating Monster KO Naoya Inoue

TJ Doheny back injury after losing TKO in the seventh round due to being beaten Monster KO Naoya Inoue in a one-sided fight on Tuesday. TJ Doheny’s team said the back injury suffered by their fighter in the seventh round was a short-term problem.

But they had no doubt the injury was serious enough to end the fight. The Irishman’s Australia-based manager, Mike Altamura, was disappointed with the outcome but sympathised with his fighter. “Basically, two punches at the end of the sixth round, two left hooks, and Inoue hit him in the small of his back on the right side; when he got back to the corner, he was really cooked,” said Mike Altamura.

Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Bermudez confirmed that the damage was done in the sixth round.
