TİP Chairman Erkan Baş addressed the government from the Pendik Public Market

(İSTANBUL) – The Chairman of the Turkish Workers’ Party (TİP), Erkan Baş, addressed the government from the Pendik People’s Market. Baş, who reacted to the 2,500 lira increase in pensions, said, “They tell retirees, ‘You die, you don’t live. You are a burden on our backs.’ We are telling them from the Pendik Market that you are the real burden on the backs of these people. These people are carrying you on their backs. You are the ones who need to go.”

The Chairman of the Turkish Workers’ Party (TİP), Erkan Baş, visited the People’s Market in the center of Pendik with the district organization. Listening to the troubles of citizens and tradesmen, Erkan Baş explained his party’s policy.

During the visit, a woman who said that her daughter paid 6 thousand liras in rent and the landlord increased the rent to 15 thousand liras asked Erkan Baş to bring the rent issue to the agenda of the parliament.

“We are retired, look at our situation, we couldn’t buy cheese”

A citizen complained, “What is the state of this nation? We are retired people, look at our state. I wanted to buy cheese but couldn’t, it cost 350 liras.”

Making a press statement after the visit, Erkan Baş reacted to the 2,500 lira increase in retirement salaries and said:

“We were speaking on behalf of millions of retirees. We were saying it is impossible to live for 10 thousand liras. Now they have seen this reality and accepted it. But because they know no bounds in shamelessness, Tayyip Erdoğan appointed a single MP, the group chairman. He said, ‘Come and explain it.’ He said, ‘We will give retirees a 2,500 lira raise.’ Friends, if you ask, ‘What is the picture of shamelessness in this country?’ If you ask, ‘What is the picture of hostility towards the people in this country?’, I would say look at the picture of those who gave retirees a 2,500 lira raise and shamelessly marketed it. They say to retirees, ‘You die, you live. You are a burden on our backs.’ And we are telling them from Pendik Market that you are actually a burden on the backs of these people. These people are carrying you on their backs. You are the ones who need to go.”

“We will all send away those who do not give the rights of those who live by their labor”

Addressing all citizens, Erkan Baş said, “They are lying. When a pensioner is given a raise, inflation does not increase. When a worker is given a raise, inflation does not increase. Do you know why inflation is increasing? Because a handful of wicked minorities who have descended on the state have become undeservedly rich, and because the rich are very rich, we are all poor. Therefore, what we need to do is this; Those who live by their labor and sweat in this country will get their due, my brother. We will also send away those who do not give the due of those who live by their labor and sweat.”
