The duration of this year’s Dhaka International Trade Fair is no longer increasing. The program of the fair ends on 20th February (Tuesday) as scheduled. Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) secretary and fair director Vivek Sarkar confirmed this information to Jago News.

He said that the fair will end on February 20. The closing ceremony of the fair will be organized on the last day. State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu will attend the closing ceremony as the chief guest. Member of Parliament of Narayanganj-1 Constituency Golam Dastgir Gazi, Senior Secretary of Ministry of Commerce Tapan Kranti Ghosh will be present as special guests.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the trade fair on January 21. The fair was held in Sherebangla Nagar from 1995 to 2020 as a joint initiative of the Ministry of Commerce and EPB to promote, spread, market, and support domestic products. Due to the covid pandemic, it was not possible to organize the fair in 2021. Then the fair was organized for the first time in 2022 at BBCFEC in Purbachle due to the restrictions of the pandemic. This time for the third time, the trade fair was held at the permanent venue Bangladesh-China Exhibition Center.

In this regard, director of the fair Vivek Sarkar said that there is no opportunity to extend the time of the fair even though the traders demanded to extend the time of the fair. The fair will continue till 10 pm on February 20. Before this, a closing ceremony will be held on the second floor of the fair premises at 4 pm. This year, more than one and a half lakh people gathered. It is not possible to tell now how the sale went. Detailed information will be given at the closing ceremony tomorrow.

In addition to domestic products, various countries including India, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore participated in this year’s trade fair. Textiles, machinery, carpets, cosmetics and beauty aids, electrical and electronics, furniture, jute and jute products, household goods, leather/artificial leather and leather goods including shoes, sports goods, sanitary ware, toys, stationery, crockery, plastic, Melamine polymer, herbal and toiletries, imitation jewellery, processed food, fast food, handicrafts, home decor etc. products are displayed at the fair. Aims to find large market for export of domestic products besides product display.
