Tifawin Festival Celebrates Village and Migration

Tafraout will host the 16th edition of the “Tifaouine Village Arts Festival” from August 15 to 18, organized by the “Tifaouine Festival” association, in cooperation with the communities of Amlen and Tafraout, and with the support of a group of institutional and private partners.

According to a statement issued by the organizing body, the “Tifawin” Festival enters its sixteenth year during this session, carrying with it its eternal torch “Victory for the Village”, which constitutes a prominent title that distinguishes the festival from other national cultural events, and a general goal that frames the work of an initiative and harmonious team of young people from the region, filled with the hope of advancing this cultural event for the better, and contributing from its position, as a local civil body, to pushing the wheel of local development towards promising horizons.

The statement, which Hespress received, added that the “Tifawin” Festival has been able, since its launch in 2006, to establish itself as a high-level and very important event that cares about Amazigh culture and art, and has acquired an important position among the cultural and artistic events in the region and the region in general, by celebrating during all its sessions the ancient village arts, while highlighting the richness of the rural heritage, which enhances the attractiveness of the Tafraout region, known for its natural, geographical and touristic qualifications, and making it a destination for visitors, guests and tourists.

This session will focus, according to the same statement, on the dimension of migration and its repercussions on the rural person in various fields, including the field of rural arts, the field of qualifications, skills and rural rituals, and the field of thought and identity, within a harmonious program centered around the rural migrant, as a cultural being who carries with him “from and to the village” the characteristics of his cultural identity and his societal concerns.

The artistic aspect will focus on organizing major artistic evenings in which many artistic names from all regions of Morocco and abroad will participate. They will be hosted by the spacious rural spaces of both Amlen and Tafraout, and will include a number of rural art groups and modern and youth groups, which will blend together to give festival-goers a pleasant atmosphere of enjoyment and diverse entertainment, according to the same document.

As for the cultural aspect, this session will witness, according to the organizing association, the organization of various halls and exhibitions, in addition to the activities of the rural university Mohamed Khair Eddine, as well as the “Inmouda” forum, which is an occasion to celebrate the immigrant, in addition to the 12th session of the national competition for dictation in the Amazigh language “Tifinagh Olympics”, and several seminars and various sports and educational activities.
