Three ships and a nuclear submarine from the Russian Navy will arrive in Havana

The note specifies that these are the frigate Gorshkov, the nuclear-powered submarine Kazan, the fleet oil tanker Pashin and the rescue tug Nikolai Chiker.

The MINFAR specified that “none of the ships are carrying nuclear weapons” and indicated that “this visit corresponds to the historical friendly relations between Cuba and the Russian Federation and strictly complies with the international regulations of which Cuba is a State. Part”.

According to official information, during their stay in the Cuban port, the Russian sailors will carry out a program of activities that includes visits to the head of the Revolutionary War Navy and the governor of Havana. They will also visit places of historical and cultural interest.

During their arrival at the port of Havana, 21 salutes will be fired from one of the ships of the group of ships as a salute to the Nation, which will be reciprocated by an artillery battery of the Revolutionary Armed Forces from the San Carlos de La Fortress. Cabaña, indicated MINFAR.

Almost a year ago, in July 2023, Havana also received the training ship Perekop, belonging to the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy, which remained anchored on the Island for three days.

After the announcement of Perekop’s trip to Havana, the regime’s prime minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, pointed out that both Russia and Cuba faced “the task of raising commercial and economic relations to the level at which political relations are found. , which are very strong.”

The regimes of Cuba and Russia have intensified their relations in the last five years, with the signing of projects in various areas such as trade, culture, politics and business. Havana, for its part, has unconditionally supported Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
