A report from the official Prensa Latina agency indicates that Francisquito, whose original name was Francisco Polanco Guerrero, was more than a wandering man.
According to the text, this character earned the admiration of those who, in order to learn about his erudition, asked him what time it is, and he responded by offering real time, a gift that made him transcend.
For more than 80 years he liked to give his time for good deeds, carrying out orders to parishioners who deserved food or clothing.

He died at almost 100 years of age, in the 70s of the last century. He was already practically disabled and was admitted to the former San José Nursing Home.
Another of the protagonists of local history who was sculpted in Sancti Spíritus is Oscar Fernández-Morera (1880-1946), a precursor of the plastic arts.
From Oscar’s artistic power came more than 1,000 works made with crayons, oil paints, pastels, watercolors and ink pens.
For its part, the creation of the composer and musician Gerardo Echemendía (Serapio), is at the entrance of the boulevard in recognition of the author of the famous parade “If you pass by my house” that was integrated into the musical works of the town that it has toured. the world.
It was one of the symbols of traditional music in the central area of the country for its renowned small-town creations; For many years he was a member of the Clave Choir, the only group of its kind in Cuba, which hosted various of his compositions.
