Police arrested three people with 300 sacks of Indian sugar in Bhairab of Kishoreganj. The truck engaged in transporting illegal sugar has been impounded.
They were arrested along with Indian sugar from the area adjacent to Kamalpur Trauma Hospital on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Friday (February 16).
The arrested are Shahin Howlader (38) son of deceased Shahjahan Howlader of Algi area of Rajapur police station of Jhalkathi district, Shaon (25) son of Azizul of Jowanerchar village of Dewanganj police station of Jamalpur district, Asif Hossain (24) son of Hashem Uddin of Gopalpur area of Lalpur police station of Natore district.
According to the police, on the basis of secret information, a special team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) of Bhairab Police Station Abdur Rahman on Friday afternoon on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway found a total of 300 sacks of Indians illegally brought in by evading government revenue in Dhaka Metro (T 22-2539) truck. 15000 kg of sugar seized.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhairab Police Station Safiqul Islam told Jago News that Tinja was arrested along with 300 bags of sugar while smuggling illegal Indian sugar by evading government revenue. A case was filed against the detainees in Bhairab police station and the accused were sent to Kishoreganj court.
