Colombian authorities arrested three new officials of the National Disaster Risk Management Unit (UNGRD)an entity involved in alleged corruption, the Prosecutor’s Office reported on Thursday.
In several procedures carried out this morning, the former deputy director for Risk Knowledge of UNGRD was arrested Luis Carlos Barreto Gantiva; the former advisor to the management of the entity Pedro Andrés Rodríguez Melo; and the lawyer Edgar Eduardo Riveros Rey.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, these arrests are being made “as part of the investigations into the corruption cases detected at UNGRD,” for which the former director of the Unit, Olmedo López, and the former deputy director for Disaster Management of this entity, Sneyder Pinilla, are already indicted.
On July 25th, the The prosecution charged López and Pinilla with the crimes of conspiracy to commit a crime, embezzlement, undue interest in the conclusion of contracts, falsification of public documents and falsification of private documents.
