Three people, including two farmers and a woman, were killed by lightning in Patnitala and Manda upazilas of Naogaon.
The accidents happened on Friday (June 7) afternoon during a thunderstorm.
The deceased are Khademul Islam (50) son of Bisha mandal of Nagargola village of Patnitala upazila and Monika (35) wife of Abdul Hamid of Gahan village and Shamsul Alam (34) son of Faimuddin mandal of Bholam village of Manda upazila.
Patnitala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the matter to Jago News.
He said that in the afternoon, in the rain, farmer Khademul Islam brought paddy from the field and brought it home. He died on the spot when he was struck by lightning while he was in the yard. On the other hand, housewife Monika was seriously injured by lightning while picking mangoes in front of her house. The relatives immediately rescued him and took him to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Manda Police Station OC Mozammel Haque Kazi said that in the afternoon the sky was suddenly covered with dark clouds. Farmer Shamsul saw the cloud and went to collect the cut paddy in one place in the field next to the house. His wife Lalbanu was also with him. Shamsul was injured by lightning. He was rescued and died on the way to the hospital.
The body has been handed over to the family after a case of wrongful death due to lightning, police officials said.
