Sziget offers a number of concerts that you won’t see in the Czech Republic. This year, for example, Billie Eilish, David Guetta, Florence + the Machine, Lorde, Mumford & Sons, but also YUNGBLUD, Sam Fender, Mimi Webb, AJR, Diplo, Sven Väth, Arlo Parks, Bonobo or the girl in red – these are just a few names from this year’s great six-day program, which Czech visitors have not had a chance to see on stage for some time.
The festival offers almost 800 program items and you can also discover well-known local performers such as Smack One, VIAH or the last winner of the Czech-Slovak superstar Adam Pavlovčin, also known as ADONXS.
Right on the Danube
The venue of Sziget is also unique, the green area is a city park full of trees on the island of Óbudai right on the Danube. A varied musical and non-musical program takes place in the vast festival grounds.
No one should miss the huge Cirque du Sziget circus tent, which will feature the world’s best new circus companies, including the Czech Cirque La Putyka.
Stand-up a kabaret
A little further away is the Magic Mirror stage focusing on stand-up, cabaret and the LGBTQ+ program, or the Theatre-and-Dance Field, where the most interesting movement productions from around the world are performed. But you will meet street performers at every corner of the area, you can also try various attractions in the amusement park or just sit on the sandy Sziget beach with the possibility of refreshing yourself in the Danube.
One of the biggest festivals in the world
When you go to Sziget, it’s like visiting several festivals at once. The event in the heart of Budapest is one of the biggest music shows on the planet.
The area on the island of Óbudai with an area of over 100 hectares and with a daily capacity of almost 80,000 visitors offers more than 30 places with a program where every visitor can find something for himself.
In addition, several stages have been redesigned and improved, and the very popular and internationally unique Art of Freedom show is returning to Sziget, bringing artwork and the visual power of spectacular spatial installations to the venue.
Not only Hungarian langoustines and goulash
This year, Sziget will also present a new form of catering in so-called food courts. In addition to the rich menu – which will include traditional “festival dishes”, this year Sziget will cooperate with well-known and popular restaurants and buffets from Budapest – the international menu will be expanded and there will be an expanded menu for visitors with allergies and other restrictions.
The organizer said the prices were set so that the festival was no more expensive than comparable products available in the capital. “In addition, every restaurant must offer at least one so-called “budget meal”, the price of which is a maximum of 6.5 euros,” said festival director Tamás Kadár.
