MEXICO CITY (apro).- The Mexican participants in the International Mathematical Olympiad, five of them medalists, arrived at Mexico City International Airport (AICM) in the early hours of July 23 and were greeted with applause and cheers by their friends, family and people who came to congratulate them on their achievement.

On July 20, Mexico won its sixth gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad. The 65th edition was held in the United Kingdom, where Mexicans won 5 medals and an honorable mention.

Rogelio Guerrero Reyes won the gold medal; Takumi Hidashida Martinez and Hector Juan Villarreal Corona won silver, while Jose Andres Zamora Moncada and Mateo Ivan Latapi Acosta won the bronze medal, and Emiliano Hernandez Barranco received an honorable mention.
These medals placed Mexico in 24th place out of 108 countries and in second place in Latin America in the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad.
The young Mexicans received congratulations from the Center for Research in Mathematics, AC, who published a photo on X praising the students’ achievement.
