Facebook User While sharing the viral video, ‘Minhaj Khan’ wrote in the caption, “Whoever this coward is, he is a very low and fallen person, how he is beating an old man, he broke his glasses, as soon as he saw the beard and cap, the devil inside him woke up! Such people must be doing the same with their parents in their house, they must be growing up in old age homes! Delhi Police should investigate and arrest this coward immediately.”

To know the truth of the viral claim, we Video We extracted several key frames of the video and searched them through Google reverse image. We found the viral video on Bangladeshi YouTube channel Protidiner Bangladesh. The video was shared on 8 September 2024. According to the information in the caption, the viral video is from Barguna, Bangladesh. The person seen in the video is a freedom fighter there. The person who assaulted him is the son of a leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Taking the investigation further, we searched on Google using the relevant keywords. We found a report related to the claim Report The report was published on Bangladesh news website Dhaka Tribune on 8 September 2024. According to the report, the name of the elderly man who was beaten up by Shaun Mulla is Abdul Rashid. Shaun Mulla is the son of former district coordinator of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Farooq Mulla. There was a dispute between the two over the list of freedom fighters, after which Shaun Mulla accused Abdul Rashid of manipulation and beat him up.

During the investigation, we also found several other news reports related to the claim. Finally, we scanned the account of the user who made the video viral with a false claim. We found that the user shares similar posts. The user has described himself as a resident of Uttar Pradesh on his profile. The user has about five thousand friends on Facebook.
