Aftab Khan told Jago News, We have always said, When buying the skin of a sacrificial animal, buy it carefully. We will give the price according to the quality of the leather.
He further said that salted leather will be purchased from fariyas as feet at the price fixed by the government. Now the skins that are coming without salt are being bought by traders at a price of 5 to 7 rupees less than salted skins. But if city skins are brought to the post office by 6 pm and out of town skins by 10 pm then rotting can be prevented. Also the price will be good. And those who cannot, should be preserved with salt in the skin where they are. Otherwise the skin may be damaged due to heat.
Regarding preservation, he said that at least 15 to 20 percent of sacrificial skins are lost every year due to improper preservation. Currently it is very hot, besides it takes a long time to bring the leather because of the jam. Therefore, we advise everyone in Posta area to produce salt in their respective areas without bringing leather. Skin management is expected to be good this year. The government is taking a strict stand in this regard.
To avoid major damage Artdars have urged the use of salt on leather. Those concerned said that due to heat, the skin deteriorates quickly. Therefore salt should be applied to the skin within 6 to 7 hours. Otherwise, the skin will be damaged.
Tannery owners have also assured to buy at a good price if the storage is correct. They say, within the challenge of conservation, the skin of the sacrificial animal has to be collected. Don’t mess around, because more than half of the tannery’s useful leather comes in one Eid al-Adha.

Those concerned say that it is not possible for everyone to give salt to the skin. They should sell raw hides quickly. Apart from the post office in the capital, on the day of Eid, traders bought raw leather at Sciencelab, Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur Beribandh, Mirpur, Gulshan, Banani, Savar, Hemayetpur, Aminbazar, Jinjira, Keraniganj, Tongi.
In this regard, BHSMA General Secretary Haji Mohammad Tipu Sultan told Jago News, it is better to bargain and sell the raw hide somewhere nearby. In this case too, to get a good price, the skin must be removed properly. After that add salt.
He said, there are some government restrictions to prevent the raw hide from spoiling due to long transportation. According to government rules, skins from outside Dhaka can enter the capital city from 10 days after Eid. Before this, skins of animals from other districts cannot be entered into Dhaka.
He also said that there is a risk of 10 to 15 percent loss in cow hide. Fattening the cow, it is unfortunate unfortunately. We never want it, we don’t want it. This can be controlled if proper monitoring is done. But above all there is a risk of 25 to 30 percent skin loss due to meat-to-skin transmission and small pox.
