After the funeral ceremony at the Curanilahue Fire Station, the general director of Carabineros Ricardo Yáñez referred to what happened, the investigation and the management of the institution.
“In one’s heart, in one’s mind, it is focused only on trying to convey support to a family that has lost something so important, a fundamental pillar of the family, a son who still does not realize what is happening,” Yáñez began by saying.
Likewise, he assured that “Our three martyrs are a legacy that means a new imprint to move forwardconfront these criminals, these criminals, I warn you, We are deployed and we have not stopped for a single minute without doing anything to try to help them and be able to stop them.“.
Regarding the expert reports, General Yáñez maintained that “work is being done to investigate rights of public interest.” However, this is “secret, reserved, therefore no information can be provided in this regard in order to have good success.”
“The police die because they are in places where there are risks, there is danger, where citizens expect them to be,” concluded on the matter.
At the same press point, when asked about the support that the institution requires in the short term regarding the deployment of critical areas, where, for example, there has been talk of a state of siege, the general director said that in his opinion “What we have to do is strengthen the strategies we are having, we don’t have to get too creative.”
He added that what “we have to do is strengthen the work on the ground, changing our tactics, modifying our plans.”
“I believe that everything is dynamic and obviously what we faced was something totally different from what we had experienced before, and that forces us to make changes together with the rest of the institutions“, he asserted.
On the other hand, the leader of the institution avoided talking about the postponement of its formalization, which was set for May 7 and was changed to October 1 of this year.
“My heart, my mind, all my intentions are focused today on accompanying the suffering of the family of our loved ones, and secondly, on directing, supporting the investigative work, bringing together efforts together with the Armed Forces, with the Public Ministry, and there will be time to talk about other issues, and for now I just want to ask you for respect for the grief that the institution is experiencing and the pain that affects us so much.”
