The unfaithful British husband, who was not named, claimed Apple’s lack of transparency over deleted messages caused his wife to file for divorce.
He said to The Times that he had turned to sex workers in the final years of his marriage, and contacted them via the iMessage app on his iPhone before eventually deleting the messages.
But the messages could still be found by his wife on the family’s iMac computer, along with messages from years ago that she believed she had deleted.
“If you are told that a message has been deleted, you have the right to believe that the message has been deleted,” he told the newspaper The Times.
“It’s all quite painful and raw. That was a pretty brutal way to find out [bagi istri saya],” he said.
“My thought was that if I could talk to him rationally and he didn’t take it so brutally, I might still be married.”
She added: “Divorce is a very stressful process and you have children and family dynamics.”
“In my opinion, it’s all because Apple told me that my messages had been deleted when they actually weren’t,” he added.
