Aşkım Kapışmak, a famous Turkish psychologist and author, believes that if you can’t lose weight, the main reason for this may be psychological problems.
Publika.az reports that the psychologist shared a video about it on Instagram. He said that those who are experiencing emotional or sensory hunger often struggle with weight but are unable to achieve any results.
“Emotionally starved people constantly complain about not losing weight, talk about it all over the place, and obsess over other people’s weight. All diets will have a temporary effect if you don’t overcome emotional hunger.
The feeling of physical hunger comes slowly and you can delay it. When the feeling of emotional hunger comes, you want to eat something right away, you can’t delay, you have to put something in your mouth, even if it’s small.
Secondly, the main thing in physical hunger is that you eat something and get full. In another, what you eat matters, you crave something sweet and carb-y, and the only thing that suppresses that negative emotion is sweets.
Third, in physical hunger you will feel good after eating, but in emotional hunger you will feel guilty and bad after eating.
Fourth, in physical hunger, you eat slowly and chew your food, while in emotional hunger, you want to eat fast.
If you are emotionally hungry, diet as much as you want, you will gain the weight back. So, first of all, you need to release negative emotions. It’s those negative emotions that drive you to crave carbs and more. Remember, if you feel bad and start eating more, there is a problem. People experience emotional hunger to avoid negative emotions,” the expert said.
