In the last month, its generation represented around 10% of the energy produced by solar plants that currently exist in Colombia, being the one that contributed the most. This milestone occurs at a relevant time for the country’s electricity sector, due to the increase in demand, and the challenges that the El Niño phenomenon could represent.
The inaugural event was attended by Dr. Gustavo Petro Urrego, president of the republic; Javier Eduardo Campillo, Vice Minister of Energy; Elvia Milena San Juan Dávila, governor of Cesar; Jesús Alberto Ortiz Hernández, mayor of the Municipality of El Paso; and Giancarlo Maria Curcio, Ambassador of Italy in Colombia, among other representatives of the national, regional and local government, who highlighted the importance of the entry into operation of projects of this type to strengthen and leverage the energy transition.
