MEXICO CITY (apro).- Director James Gunn published this Monday the first photograph of actor David Corenswet with the Superman suit.
“Be ready #Superman 7.11.25,” says the text that accompanies the publication on social networks, referring to the release date of the next superhero film, which will be July 11, 2025.
The publication of the image caused both Corenswet and Superman to become a trend on social networks.
Superman Legacy is the film with which Warner Bros. and DC will restart a new universe led by Gunn and Peter Safran, after the conclusion of the period founded by Zack Snyder with Man of Steel and concluded last December with the sequel to Aquaman.
Superman, the character created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, first appeared on April 18, 1938 in Action Comics #1. Since then, eight actors have played the last son of Krypton: Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Brandon Routh, Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin.
The date was remembered by Gunn himself in an image posted on his Instagram.
“On this day in 1938, the first superhero entered our atmosphere through the imaginations of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. He gave us someone to believe in, not because of his great physical power, but because of his character and determination to do the right thing no matter what. Happy #SupermanDay to all of you! #Up, up and away,” Gunn posted.
With the start of the new stage in DC, the Hollywood industry seeks to overcome the box office slump caused by what is considered “superhero fatigue.” Competitor Marvel also only plans one genre release this year, Deadpool and Wolverine.
