This is how the investigation against Nicolás Petro progresses

This Monday, August 5, the preparatory hearing was held within the framework of the investigation against Nicolas Fernando Petro Burgosson of President Gustavo Petro. The hearing, which took place in the morning, was held at the Attorney General’s Office and was attended by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Specialized Directorate against Money Laundering of the Delegate for Criminal Finances.

During the hearing, the judge allowed Petro Burgos’ defense attorney to speak. The attorney requested additional time to review the observations on the discovery of evidence, pointing out that there were doubts about some of the elements presented. The Prosecutor’s Office, for its part, confirmed that it had delivered all the material evidence in accordance with the law and completed the discovery of the same.

The Deputy Prosecutor was willing to respond to the clarifications requested by the defense regarding the discovery of evidence, which had been requested the previous week. In addition, the defense of Nicolás Fernando Petro Burgos announced the presentation of 94 documentary evidence, 9 testimonial evidence, and 6 expert evidence.
