After giving a “taste” with the Grand Prix, which saw the pedal queens of the world roll through different streets of the country, government authorities and members of the organizing committee of the “Tour El Salvador 2024” officially gave the green light to the Vuelta Ciclista yesterday (Thursday).
The event held in front of the National Palace in the Salvadoran capital was attended by the cyclists and the ministers Morena Valdez, of Tourism, and Romeo Rodríguez, of the MOP, as well as the vice president of the Republic, Félix Ulloa.
“This date will be memorable in the historical future of Salvadoran sport, since today we inaugurate the Tour El Salvador 2024, and as a gift of destiny, it will start tomorrow, Friday, which is celebrated on International Women’s Day,” said Rubén Contreras, president of the organizing committee.
The fair that officially starts this Friday on its journey through the country through its different stages (800 kilometers more or less), is the largest cycling competition on the continent and provides 3,000 points in the International Cycling Union ranking classification ( UCI).
“El Salvador opens its arms to receive this group of athletes, from 25 nations from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, who honor us with their visit and place our country, once again, on a global level,” said Vice President Ulloa.

“For us, as the Government of El Salvador, sports tourism is key,” said Minister Valdez, who highlighted that holding events like this has contributed to increasing visitor income by up to 35%.
“El Salvador, without a doubt, is not the same, it is a country, now, with peace, security, with trust,” said the head of the MOP.
