This disease also started to spread in Baku – 2024-02-15 20:24:29

Jaundice disease has spread in Amirjan and Bulbula settlements of Sabunchu district of Baku. Local people say that this is caused by sewage mixed with drinking water.

The press secretary of Sabunchu District Hospital Sakina Yusibli Publika.azIn response to the inquiry, he said that the cause of the disease is currently being investigated:

“We cannot say with certainty whether the disease was caused by water or air-droplet transmission. The first applications were made on January 11-12. It is still ongoing. At the Infectious Department of the Sabunchu Medical Center operating under TABIB, each of the 14 people receiving inpatient treatment for hepatitis (jaundice) have their residential address in Surakhani district and are mostly residents of Bulbula and Amirjan settlements. 9 of them are women and 5 are men. Their condition is assessed as stable.”

Since the hepatitis A (commonly called “jaundice”) virus is mostly transmitted through polluted water, the number of people infected with this disease increases dramatically during the summer months. The risk of hepatitis A virus infection is also greater from poorly washed vegetables, swimming pools and sea water. Symptoms of hepatitis A disease: paleness, jaundice, weakness, nausea, temperature and darkening of urine color.

Vasif Aliyev, an infectious disease doctor, noted that hepatitis A, commonly known as jaundice, is more often transmitted through fecal matter:

“The joint address of those 14 people should be investigated. Because those people can use shared water and food. Therefore, it should be investigated by the epidemiologist. Because the disease is mostly transmitted through the fecal-oral route. It should definitely be investigated and brought under control. The main way to prevent the disease is vaccination. But hygiene rules must be followed strictly. If there is a danger, the epidemiological institution should take control of it.”

Jaundice is a medical condition in which the skin and whites of the eyes appear yellow. Jaundice is not actually a disease, but a symptom that can be the result of many different diseases.

It should be noted that TABIB has received applications related to jaundice from the mentioned areas and necessary medical services have been provided to the patients. “Azersu” denied the news that the residents contracted an infectious disease from drinking water.
