The Spanish Police have arrested thirteen people suspected of being part of the first cell established in Spain of the Tren de Aragua, a criminal drug trafficking structure originating in Venezuela, considered the most important in the country and which has expanded to other countries. The security forces reported this Friday on the operation, called Interciti, which had a first phase in March 2024.
“The investigation began last year, with the arrest in Barcelona of the brother of the world leader of the criminal organization. [luego extraditado a Venezuela] and verify that it intended to expand its structure in our country,” says a police statement, which specifies that “five searches have been carried out where a large quantity of narcotic substances, telephone terminals, various documentation and a prohibited weapon have been seized.”
Collaboration with the Colombian Police
In this second phase, agents arrested eight alleged members in Barcelona, two in Madrid and one in Gerona (Catalonia), La Coruña (Galicia) and Valencia (Levant). In addition, the police statement explains, they had the support of the National Police of Colombia and the Ameripol-EL PAcCTO 2.0 project of the European Union.
They also dismantled two laboratories dedicated to producing pink cocaine, known as ‘tusi’, a common activity of this organization, and intervened in five searches various quantities of synthetic drugs, cocaine and an indoor marijuana plantation. Source: news
