The launch will take place from SpaceX’s own space base in the state of Texas and is scheduled for Thursday afternoon Belgian time. The so-called launch window opens at 1:00 PM and lasts until 2:50 PM. The American regulator, the FAA, has approved the launch.

The first test flight of a Starship was in April last year. It ended a few minutes after takeoff with the craft exploding. In addition, the launch pad was pulverized by the forces of the launch. During the second flight, last November, the craft reached space, but contact was lost a few minutes after launch. The craft blew itself up to prevent accidents. SpaceX doesn’t see these as failures, but as ways to learn.

With a version of Starship, SpaceX wants to fly to the moon and ultimately put people on Mars. SpaceX hopes that in the future a hundred passengers will be able to go to space at the same time on board.
