Thibau Nys has already been hot and cold in cyclocross this season. He had some good wins, but was badly beaten several times. However, an internship in Spain at Lidl-Trek seems to provide a new atmosphere.
In Koksijde, however, it was once again a disappointment, with Mathieu van der Poel seven minutes behind, but he isn’t worried about this.
“In Baal we could see that they are in good shape,” he said in an interview with Indeleidersrui. “I watch everything, game after game.”
After his strong statement at the World Cup, in which he thinks he can beat Mathieu van der Poel if it were to snow or freeze, he is now doing the same for the Belgian Championship.
“For me, I simply want to be on the starting line in the best shape possible. And then we’ll see what’s possible. With Koksijde’s form it will be difficult to compete in a Belgian championship, but with Baal’s form I can compete for the title. I assume I will prove it in the next races.”
