They will launch an addiction prevention program

Given the increase in the consumption of legal and illegal drugs in the workplace, whose addiction is reflected in high staff turnover and absenteeism, and given the concern of the business sector, the Youth Integration Center (CIJ) Torreón will launch the program “To Live Without Addictions in the Workplace” this May 3, presenting all the details.

Cecilia Martínez, director of the CIJ Torreón, recalled that since last year this concern has been discussed by the region’s business sector, and that this program was designed in response, which consists of four stages.

In the first stage, four stages. The aim is to sensitize the owners and management of companies about prevention, and make them see it more as a necessity than as a luxury. And above all, addictions should not be seen as a trick or bad behavior but as a disease that must be treated.

“And it is not going to be solved by terminating contracts or firing people, but also work centers are an opportunity to do prevention, protect employees who are collaborating, but also to channel them to treatment and that through agreements that we have with Social Security, can issue disabilities for workers who require treatment with us,” he explained.

The second stage consists of organizing workshops within the companies where socio-emotional activities are promoted, education workshops, parenting workshops to prevent explosive alcohol consumption, etc.

The third stage consists of creating a team with strategic Training personnel who carry out all these activities on a permanent basis and which are inserted into the company’s policies.

And the fourth stage is general “that responsibility and social co-responsibility of the company with preventive actions, not just within the company, but for the community,” Martínez explained.

For the start of the program, the participation of at least 15 companies is expected, as well as unions that have expressed their interest to the Youth Integration Center for the prevention of addictions.
