“They want me dead”: the curious photo with which Petro denounced alleged plan against him

President Gustavo Petro denounced on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, through his social networks, an alleged plan of the extreme right to kill him. In his messages, he said: “The friends of the extreme right have killed me as 17 times in my government,” and announced that he will publicly reveal the details of the alleged operation, which involves, according to him, “Colombian and North American Nazis”, this accompanied by a curious photo.

These statements are known in the midst of diplomatic tensions with Guatemala, after the arrest warrants issued by that country against former Minister of Defense Iván Velásquez and the current Attorney General of the Nation, Luz Adriana Camargo. Both were accused of serious crimes related to the Odebrecht case, although they have immunity for their work in the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG), as confirmed by the United Nations.

Petro has described the action of the Guatemalan Public Ministry as part of an offensive of “the extreme Guatemalan right, Nazi, genocidal and narco”, and denounced the participation of “Colombian stateless” in this alleged conspiracy.
