They report 50 to 80 ‘filthy neighbors’ per day in Torreón, half caught red-handed
Between 50 and up to 80 reports of “filthy neighbors” are received per day in the different communication channels with the municipal offices of Torreón, of which only half are current or red-handed.
Since the campaign “Report the dirty neighbor, don’t leave La Ola alone” began to detect and punish those who pollute, complaints have increased, although the director of Public Services, Fernando Villarreal Cuéllar, asked for greater collaboration from citizens to proceed against those who are caught at the time, as this can generate a greater impact and eradicate the bad habit of throwing garbage and waste anywhere.
There is a WhatsApp number 8715-12-69-54 to send photos and locations to the Municipal Police, whose elements have the power to intervene in these cases since throwing garbage in unauthorized places is classified as an administrative offense.
The head of the agency said that other types of reports are those of businesses that take out waste when collection is not appropriate, throw oil from food or vehicles into drains, do not clean sidewalks and other bad practices.
In addition, reports of dirty vacant lots, as well as clandestine garbage dumps, are being addressed.
He said that the level of attention and compliance with the reports is 90 percent, and urged citizens to continue participating to have a cleaner city.
