They remember ‘Chucho’ Benítez in networks, star scorer of Santos Laguna

This May 1, fans of the sport of football, but especially Laguneros, remembered the star scorer of Santos Laguna, Christian ‘Chucho’ Benítez in honor of his birth anniversary.

Originally from Quito, Ecuador, ‘Chucho’ Benítez arrived in Torreón in 2007 to join Santos Laguna, giving the club one of its best seasons along with other players such as Matías Vuoso.

‘Chucho’ Benítez played an important role with the Albiverdes during the Clausura 2008, as his goals were key for the Guerreros to win the tournament, becoming one of the team’s most important and memorable moments.

Sadly, on July 29, 2013, at the age of 27, Christian Benítez lost his life due to respiratory failure that caused cardiac arrest in Doha, Qatar.

Despite the passing of the years, ‘Chucho’ Benítez continues to be remembered as one of the best soccer players not only in Ecuador, but in Mexico where he left an important legacy with the Liga MX clubs.

On social networks, the Santos Laguna Club dedicated a message in honor of Benítez, fondly remembering the star scorer.
