They reinvented the power bank. We recommend using it

A power bank is associated with an electronic component that is supposed to work, not appear. The new proposal from the small company Yingk demonstrates that seemingly uninteresting equipment can be innovative.

Typical power banks available in electronics stores are usually devices with no additional frills: a simple casing, a few USB-A and USB-C ports (the cheap ones also have a somewhat archaic micro USB), sometimes there is a screen o LEDs that inform you about the charging status. We connect the cable to the power source and to our smartphone, laptop or other accessory and that’s it: it works. However, the Kick Starter featured an exceptional design of a device that is not only compact, but also very well designed.

Powerbank reinvented. It is very small and elegant

Yingk has an active project on Kickstarter called “Pills EDC powerbank”. It is a compact device for recharging the energy of smartphones and more, with a capacity of 5000 mAh, a typical value of current Android smartphones. The device is not only small (dimensions 78 × 27 × 36 mm), but also looks interesting. It looks really nice and has a built-in rubber cord… which is actually a cable with a Lightning or USB-C plug.

This means that we can use a fixed cable to connect the powerbank, for example, to keys. If that wasn’t enough, the manufacturer of the device has equipped it with a rotating plug that allows us to “attach” the powerbank to the smartphone. Interestingly, the plug rotates on several axes, so by appropriately rotating the port, we can use it as a stand for the phone, which can be useful, among other things, watching something while eating: it is better to tilt the smartphone towards the viewer in a horizontal position, rather than lying on the table.

The equipment also supports fast charging technology with a power of 22.5 W in both directions, thanks to which we will be able to quickly recharge the energy of our smartphone, but also of the power bank itself (the USB-C charging port is on the side of the device). The manufacturer offers two variants: with a rotatable USB-C connector and Lightning cable and with a rotatable Lightning connector and USB-C cable, so if you have an iPhone 14 or earlier you can also charge other devices (including MacBook Pro or Nintendo Switch) using the device ).

Yingk solves many problems of typical power banks: first of all the weight, the need to carry an additional USB-C or Lightning cable, but it also guarantees additional functions such as support for the phone. The small size allows you to put the device in your pocket and the cable can act as a lanyard. Moreover, it does not cost millions, because to get it you need to pay the project 29 dollars (about PLN 116), and deliveries are scheduled for March 2024.
