They punish Rafa Pérez for singing ‘Coqueta’ live without knowing the lyrics of the song

The singer Rafa Pérez found himself in trouble due to the success of the moment in the country, because when he wanted to perform live his own version of the song Coqueta, the vallenato artist had to admit on stage and in front of the audience that he did not know the lyrics of the romantic song that occupies first place on Spotify Colombia.

The former member and founder of the Kvrass group was made a fool of in the middle of his concert in Zapatoca (Santander), a land in which the carranga is an anthem. After the video was released, it received hundreds of negative comments on social networks. “Clown, be serious,” they wrote.

Despite the unfortunate timing of his presentation in Carranguero territory, Rafa Pérez took the ‘disappointment’ with humor and published it on his social networks where he is accused of being taken advantage of for trying to join the success that has been a trend since the end of the year season. “Soft, I can’t resist so much love… Flirty” the singer wrote on his Instagram where his flirtatious steps did not convince his followers either.

Accompanied by his vallenato ensemble, Rafa enthusiastically started the chorus of the song that made carranga fashionable, but nerves took over his voice when he began to lose the notes and forget the lyrics. Although he tried to encourage the audience by trying to imitate the steps of the traditional rhythm, he was unable to get his version afloat and preferred to be honest with those present. “The thing is that I don’t know,” commented the vallenato singer so that his musicians would stop playing.

“As Diomedes Díaz said, all the birds sing, but they don’t sing the same here, the one in season is the Heredero”, “the king of cover”, “it’s serious, now everyone wants to join in”, “taking advantage of other people’s success”, “a song doesn’t hit waiting for others to do the task”, “what was missing was another one who came to recycle”, “one more opportunist who wants to hang out with Heredero”, “he does better selling soft drinks”, “this is what you get when they ask for a Heir to Temu”, “gifted just like Jessi Uribe”, “the vallenato is so bad that now they turn to other genres”, were some of the reactions the video had.

Although Rafa Pérez’s interpretation is making waves on social networks, this is not the first time that the musical base of this song has been changed, since “El Puma del Vallenato” recorded his version with an accordion.

“El Puma del Vallenato” and his accordion player Harold Ortega were in charge of giving a new sound to this year-end success that made all of Colombia listen to the popular carranga genre. However, despite being a tribute to its creator Feizar Orjuela, faithful fans of this traditional peasant genre continue to share opinions on social networks.

Coqueta marked a milestone in Colombian music after achieving that for the first time in the history of the country’s music, a carranga song reached number one on the national playlists above the urban genre, even displacing the kings of the first places such as Karol G and Feid.

However, the popularity of the song increased thanks to the controversy that was generated on social networks due to the criticism that rained down on Jessi Uribe, since he was called “taken advantage” of for wanting to venture into a new rhythm that was not popular, but also with a song that already had gained ground.

However, José Luis Rodríguez, former participant in contests such as A Otro Nivel and La Diseño, who calls himself “El Puma del Vallenato” took the risk of removing the song from its musical base and presented it as a vallenato that some liked, but that disappointed others.

“Today I have the honor of presenting to you my Vallenato version of Coqueta, a song that pays tribute to Feizar Orjuela, known as Heredero, one of the greatest artists who has left an indelible mark on our hearts. With this interpretation, I want to pay tribute to his legacy, his effort and his passion for music. Coqueta is not only a song, it is a tribute to his career, his unique style and everything he has given us as an artist!” wrote the singer born in Valledupar, Cesar told his pumista family on Instagram where he gave a first preview of this version with vallenato chords.
